about bend roots revival

The REVIVAL

The 2019 Bend Roots Revival is scheduled for September 27th-29th, and will take place between the Art Station and Deschutes Brewery warehouse across from the Les Schwab Amphitheater on Shevlin-Hixon Road. Featuring 120 performances and educational workshops this year, the Revival is family-friendly and admission is FREE.

Bend Roots Revival Music Festival

This one-of-a-kind phenomenon feels like a giant block party for the multitude of community partners who come together in its name—from KPOV Bend Community Radio, and other local media friends like Bend Radio Group, The Bend Bulletin, and The Source, to a fleet of volunteers and musicians—most of whom donate their time, and play for forty minutes of fame, some tacos and a pint of Black Butte Porter.

Grassroots Culture

At the event, Revivalists are greeted with the opportunity to donate, but there is absolutely no obligation to do so. Roots is a gift from the community to the community, so receiving the gift is as important as giving it. In fact, dancing, celebrating and cheering on our favorite local acts are highly regarded acts of sacrifice, essential to the Dionysian aspect of renaissance, and the soul of Bend Roots. If this is your contribution, please know how important it is, and how much we appreciate your participation!

Growing Roots

Donations from Revivalists at the at the festival support Bend Roots’ goals including: improving the quality of the Revival (better infrastructure for variable weather, more compensation for traveling acts & sound engineers, and increased budget to invite national acts), improving the quality of our existing outreach programs/events; and starting a new guitar/ukulele program at Marshall High School in Bend.

Getting Involved

If you feel inspired, Bend Roots needs you! As a project of Rise Up, a local 501(c)3 charitable arts-outreach organization, Roots utilizes tax-deductible donations and sponsorships to help run the Revival, as well as gifts-in-kind like building materials & art supplies, propane patio heaters, fire pits, lighting, PA gear, pop-up tents, and provisions for the crew.

Click the Sponsor link to see what local businesses are involved, click Donate to donate, and check the Volunteer section to see how you can participate. We need greeters and facilitators to manage projects in the Community Art Zone, as well as some bar staff, stage crew, and helpers to assist the bands.
