IMAGINE a tree with its leaves and buds reaching toward the sun and its roots diving deep.
The Bend Roots Revival showcases the fruits of this enrichment project in our community each year, harvest time, late September. We showcase kid bands, school groups, family projects and first timers cutting their teeth alongside seasoned pros from our community and beyond.
All styles. Everyone. Free.
The Revival is more than an event, it is a grand celebration and chance to remember the roots of rock n roll in our culture, to tap-into the wisdom of our musical ancestors, and to pass this tradition on in a uniquely Bend, Oregon way. Everyone is inspired here and this inspiration feeds the unique soul of our community through specific projects.
First, as mentioned above, we throw the biggest party of the year: The Bend Roots Revival, with the intent of inspiring imagination and feeding Bend’s soul.
Concurrently, and throughout the year, we bring teaching-artists from the community (many of whom will perform on stage at the Revival) into local schools to mentor students in music and theater.
We provide scholarships for students of local private instructors, and help local teaching-artists find part time work.
The Bend Roots Teaching Collective partners with others like Worthy Brewing, the High Desert Music, and 501c3s KPOV, and Fuzz Phonic Records to provide community ukulele, guitar, and drumming instruction, music workshops and interactive events.
We produce the annual Church of Neil event, which celebrates the musical life and activism of Neil Young (this event in-itself a powerful fundraiser for the arts in Bend); and there are always a number of Grateful Dead tributes we like to help facilitate.
